This notice explains how Local Recovery handles personal information when you use localrecovery.uk, call us, request vehicle recovery or transport, or apply to join the driver network in North & East London.

Who is responsible

Local Recovery is the controller of personal information collected through this website and the recovery enquiry process. The team can be contacted using the details at the end of this notice.

Information we collect

  • Contact details such as your name, phone number and email address.
  • Recovery details including vehicle type, registration where supplied, condition, current or collection location, destination, access information and description of the issue.
  • Booking and service information such as quotes, instructions, arrival and handover records, photographs, communications, payment status, complaints and damage reports.
  • Trade enquiry details, including organisation, collection requirements and repeat transport needs.
  • Driver application details, including operating area, recovery vehicle type, experience, availability and any notes you choose to provide.
  • Limited website security information such as IP-derived rate-limit records, form security tokens, browser information and your cookie preference.

Please do not send card details, passwords, medical information or unrelated sensitive personal information through the website form. If an incident requires emergency help, contact the emergency services first.

We do not sell personal information. Recovery enquiry details are not used for unrelated marketing without permission. Where legitimate interests are used, we consider the impact on you and do not rely on them where your rights override our interests.

Who we share information with

We share only what is reasonably necessary to assess or deliver the service. Recipients may include recovery drivers and transport partners, garages, dealerships, auction or storage sites, fleet contacts, the person receiving the vehicle, insurers and professional advisers.

We may also use website hosting, WordPress, email, security, analytics, bookkeeping and communications suppliers. Suppliers acting for us must protect the information and use it only for the agreed purpose. Information may be disclosed to police, courts, regulators or public authorities where the law requires or permits it.

Some technology suppliers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we use an approved transfer mechanism or another lawful safeguard required by UK data protection law.

How long we keep information

  • Unconverted enquiries and quote records: normally up to 24 months after the last contact.
  • Unsuccessful driver applications: normally up to 12 months after the last contact, unless you agree that details may be retained for longer.
  • Completed service, payment, invoice, complaint and claim records: normally up to six years, or longer where an active dispute, insurance matter or legal requirement applies.
  • Website rate-limit records: approximately 10 minutes.
  • Cookie preference: 180 days when optional analytics are configured.

Backups are deleted on their normal secure rotation cycle. Information may be anonymised and kept for longer where it can no longer identify you.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for access to your information, correction, deletion, restriction, transfer to another provider, or object to certain uses. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful use. We do not make solely automated decisions through this website that have legal or similarly significant effects.

We may need to confirm your identity and clarify your request. We normally respond within one month, subject to the extensions and exceptions allowed by law.
